When it comes to early 60’s classic cars, the Chevrolets are a dime a dozen. Mopars, well, you see a few of them here and there, and the offerings from Ford, if it’s not a Mustang, is usually rather limited. So when we stumbled upon this 1962 Galaxie XL-500 on eBay, what a treat that was to see one in such great condition.
The Galaxie began life in 1959 and was your typical 1950’s era big car. Then in 1960, it took on a new look and was actually becoming a pretty cool looking car. This offering, which has about a day left on eBay without yet hitting the reserve, is what we would call a pretty nice resto-mod. The surefire giveaway would be the 20″ American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels with the Nexen 245/35ZR20 tires.
The interior has been professionally done in burgundy on black with custom stitching, and it’s a “Best Interior” winner at local shows in North Carolina. The pictures speak for themselves, but in case you didn’t notice there is also a pretty decent sound system to crank up the tunes when you’re cruising.
For power, how can you miss the professionally built Ford 390 big block? The engine was rebuilt this year, and sports a Comp Cam, Comp roller rockers, .030 over high compression pistons, an Edelbrock high rise intake, valve covers and chrome breather.
The car is garage ketp and has a low 259 miles since the engine was rebuilt, so if you want a clean cruiser that strays from the norm, get yourself over to eBay and see if you can get in on this before it goes away.
