Who doesn’t love forced induction? Sure, there is something to be said for natural aspirated motors, but when it comes to big power, boost is the only way to go. The hottest new engine on the market right now is the Ford 5.0, and it isn’t only popular in America. Those crazy Aussies are enjoying the 5.0 too, and they’re ensuring it gets a healthy dose of boost soon.
Inside Line reports that Ford Performance Vehicles (the Australian equivalent of SVT) expects to unveil a boosted 5.0 liter V8 engine around October of this year.
Rumors have been swirling for some time regarding a boosted Coyote 5.0 engine in Australia. The Aussies have quite the performance lineup, including a number of six-cylinder turbocharged engines. The boosted 5.0 is the crème de la crème though, and it is expected to land under the hood of FPV’s premier performance vehicles. This includes the Falcon sedan and Ute.
Going along with this boosted theme, FPV has announced that its inline-six cylinder engines have been updated to meet tightening emissions standards. Australia recently adopted the Euro IV emissions standards, which threatened to kill off a number of performance vehicles. Engineering has prevailed though, and the Falcon F6 has met the standards without losing a single horsepower. We’re still hoping to see this engine come to America, though we won’t hold our breath. It’d also be nice to see more EcoBoost engines in performance vehicles, which seems much more likely in the coming months.
