Here in America, we have a long-standing tradition of “weekend warrior” rental cars, which have been entered in all manner of races and contests short of demolition derbies. The most famous weekend warrior of all time is the Hertz Shelby GT350H Mustangs, which were made famous by their black-and-gold livery that signified a serious car was rolling through.
While Hertz has its own special edition Mustang in its rental car ranks these days, over in Europe they’re trying something a little different with the Ford Focus ST-H. Yup, that’s right, you can now rent a Focus ST, reports Autoblog, though only if you’re visiting Holland.
In August Ford delivered a batch of 2014 Ford Focus ST models to Hertz in Holland with a very specific purpose; injecting some adrenaline into the rental car company’s lineup. Hertz left well-enough alone in terms of horsepower and handling, with the 252 horsepower 2.0 liter EcoBoost still doing its duty of delivering impressive output and fuel economy. Hertz did, however, opt for the Recaro seat option.
That’s good because Holland, like most of Europe, has outrageously-high gas prices, so the Focus ST’s 33 mpg will come in handy. Hertz did, however, add its signature black-and-gold livery to the ST-H, which can now be rented (for a premium price, of course) at several Hertz locations in Holland.
Sounds like we just found the car for our road trip to Amsterdam.
