Though the Ford Mustang has long been associated with American masculinity, the truth is that the pony car owes much of its success to the fairer sex. The fact that the first person to ever buy a Mustang was a woman speaks volumes for its appeal to the ladies, whether it was for the elegant and stylish design or the growl of a big-block V8.
Ford wants to make sure women don’t feel left out of the 50th anniversary celebration, teaming up with cosmetics maker OPI to develop a line of nail polishes based on Mustang color options.
So far, the Ford and OPI collaboration has revealed just a single color for the Mustang lacquer line, “Race Red,” a tribute to one of Ford’s most popular pony car colors. But there are literally dozens of different color options to choose from, though we expect Ford to stick with more contemporary options that will be available on the 2015 model.
Race Red will indeed be an option for the 2015 Mustang, as will Competition Orange, Triple Yellow, Oxford White and Deep Impact Blue, among others. Other colors will be announced closer to the official roll out date in July, and until then we can only speculate or hope that certain colors make the cut. Gotta Have It Green might have been cut from the 2015 color palette, but could it make a comeback as a nail color?
