There are a lot of options out there for late model performance Mustangs. A properly thought out and executed setup can literally be made to have a split personality. For example maybe you run nitrous sometimes, but while commuting typically leave the system off. Or perhaps on a boosted application you’re cranking the boost up at the track while running race gas, but backing things down to a more conservative level for the cruise home. The question becomes how do you compensate with computer tuning in these scenarios.
Livernois Motorsports in conjunction with AIW has recently introduced their Split Personality Tuner for 2011 and newer Mustangs and F-150 Raptors. While having multiple tunes loaded into one tuner is nothing new, being able to switch literally on the fly is not all that common. Installing a simple switch on the car allows owners to switch back and forth between a primary tune and a more aggressive tune. The change over is nearly instantaneous as Livernois demonstrates in their video. There’s no lag time waiting for the tuner to download the old tune and then load in a new tune.
What this translates to is that no matter where you are, with the Split Personality tuner you’re never caught off guard with the wrong tune loaded in your car. A higher idle let’s owners know that the secondary tune is loaded and ready to go, this is also demonstrated in the video. Also since this is one of Livernois’ MyCal products, owners of existing MyCal tuners can contact Livernois for an upgrade.
We can think of a lot of great ways to utilize this function. Everything from pairing the Split Personality tuner with a boost controller for better performance at the race track, to a nitrous system for running a nitrous optimized tune.
The split personality tuner is available now through Livernois Motorsports, for more information you can check it out online or contact Livernois directly.
