The 2015 Ford Mustang stands to be the hottest car of the year, and already people are lining to be among the first in line to own this all-new pony car. But while a new turbocharged engine and a suite of high-tech gadgets are all things worth looking forward to, the four tires still remains some of the most critical aspects of the new Mustang. So some people have been wondering aloud, who will provide the rubber for the 2015 ‘Stang?
For those who follow the auto industry it should come as no surprise that the 2015 Mustang will be wearing rubber from Goodyear who has partnered with Ford several times in the past. The report reports this for the V6 and EcoBoost models, Tirebusiness.com reports. But what of the GT model?
The base 2015 Mustang will be fitted with 235/55R17 all-season tires standard, though there will be a number of tire and wheel package options as well. Among these options are 235/50R18 tires, 255/50R19 all-seasons, and 265/35R20 summer tires, and these are just on the base V6 Mustang.
Upgrade to the 2.3 liter EcoBoost, and buyers will have have their choice of either 235/55R17s or 235/50R18s, both all season types, though these tires aren’t to be under-estimated. Goodyear says these race-inspired all-season Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires offer superb handling in both wet and dry conditions. Seeing as how Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires found on the 2013+ Shelby GT500, it’s a good bet Goodyear will provide tires for the performance Mustangs as well.
Not surprising, but still good to know for all your Mustang fans out there.
