As you may already know, Ken Block recently moved into a new headquarters made out of shipping containers in Utah. Well it seems that Mr. Block isn’t quite done re-inventing himself or the all-new Hoonigan Racing Division. In the spirit of new starts, Block has unveiled an all-new livery for his small fleet of Hybrid Function Hooning Vehicles or H.F.H.V.s for short.
Yup, Ken Block is ditching the familiar black-and-lime-green livery for a black-and-bright-blue livery inspired, according to Block, by skateboard artwork of the late 1980s and early 1990s. We’re fans of it already.
With Block setting himself up as the leader of the Hoonigan Racing Division, the timing for a new look couldn’t be better, and skateboard graphics are only part of the influence. Block also names the powerboats from the Miami Vice era and hair metal and old school hip-hop as influences on the style and look of his new, blue, Fiesta race cars.
Block is maintaining tight ties with his largest sponsors, including Ford, Monster Energy, and DC Shoes. However, it is apparent that Block now wants to branch out and do more of his own thing, and this new livery definitely speaks to Block’s style. It is definitely a departure from the Ken Block cars we’ve grown to know and love, but this new look is easy to love as well. Are you fans of the new Ken Block look, or do you miss the old livery?
