Some of us may be drag racing enthusiasts at PowerTV, but we love us some good old rally racing any day of the week. Of course, when one thinks of rally racing, we tend to think of dirt roads running through thick forests, or perhaps across the desert dunes of Mexico. The thing with rally racing though, is that it can take place just about anywhere…including on paved roads.
In this video below from the Monster World Rally Team, racer Ken Block can be seen testing out his Ford Fiesta on some tarmac in preparation for the WRC ADAC Rally Deutschland this weekend.

The ADAC race is one of the most unique in the WRC circuit, taking place on a variety of different sealed surfaces. Between asphalt, concrete, and cement barriers, it is a harrowing ordeal for any driver and requires a lot of practice lest one wind up smashing into the course itself.
Watching the video, we actually see some rather candid answers from block, who is in his first season of racing in the WRC. He has almost no experience racing in WRC on tarmac, and he is very blunt about his chances of winning even a single stage of the upcoming race. You have to admire the man’s honesty, and he is obviously pushing the car in an attempt to understand the dynamics and differences in racing on tarmac. We’ll be rooting for him all the same, and we hope he at least finishes the race this weekend.
