It’s no secret in the mod-motor performance world that Livernois Motorsports is one of the top shops in developing new components to get you out of the factory performance blues. With a curb weight encroaching on the 3 ton mark, even Ford’s mighty 6.2L needs some help giving this off road monster a jolt of power. Thankfully, Livernois is there to answer the call. Check out Livernois’ new developments on their website at Livernois Motorsports
Since they couldn’t just get on the phone and order a set of cams for a 6.2L, Livernois took the bull by the horns and decided to develop their own custom grind and with the help of a customer’s truck (already improved by a Livernois Bumper + Light package), they got a perfect test specimen. To start things off, Livernois strapped the beast down on the dyno and got baseline rear wheel numbers right at 336 horsepower and 359 ft. lbs. of torque.
Going from there, they tore into the top end of the motor and slid their new billet cams in along with an OEM cam phaser with Livernois limiters and their very own rocker brace kit. Since it seemed illogical to leave a bunch of stock parts around a big cam upgrade, other additions at the time of the swap included and Airaid Intake setup, Stainless Works long tube headers and full Stainless works exhaust with catalytic converters. This tried and true package without the cams was consistently producing an average of 370 hp/395 ft. lbs. With the addition of the cams the peak numbers were up 35hp to 405 and 15 ft lbs. to 410, but the consistency of power at the top end was the big gain. For those looking to get their own kit for a Raptor, Livernois has compiled a kit that includes the two billet camshafts, 16 upgraded valve springs, locators and seals, along with their brace kit and Livernois cam phaser limiters.
