Car collectors have different priorities when it comes to buying a classic vehicle like the Ford Mustang. First and foremost, condition is king, so unless your car is an all-original survivor or has a Concours-class level of restoration, you can forget about getting top dollar. But another important factor can be how many miles your classic Mustang does or doesn’t have, and low-mileage collectibles are getting hard and harder to come across.

In just a few weeks time, the lowest known-mileage 1967 Shelby GT500 will hit the Barrett-Jackson auction block. With only 9,841 miles on the odometer, it is a collectible that can barely be called broken in and wears many of the original equipment options, including a 428 cubic-inch Police Interceptor engine.

The history of this ‘67 Shelby is as special as the rest of the car, as it was originally bought as a drag racer by Edward Milkos. Milkos raced the Shelby with some success for a few years until an accident left he unable to compete. With that, the Shelby was stored in his basement garage for about 30 years, at which point he traded the Shelby for a late model car.

Milkos probably regretted that decision as prices for Shelby Mustangs skyrocketed in the past decade, fueled by auction fever and newly-minted millionaires. As an all-original survivor car with the lowest known mileage of any ‘67 Shelby, this Mustang is a one-two collector car punch that should bring a pretty penny at auction. The No Reserve auction is set for January 19th at Barrett-Jackson’s annual Scottsdale auction, and we’re thinking this Shelby could go for $200,000 or more by the time the gavel falls.
