The Ford Mustang has such a long and illustrious history that automotive enthusiasts have found no shortage of ways to make each Mustang a unique expression of the builder’s intentions. Lately, we’ve been seeing a trend of “matching” Mustangs, one old school, one much more new, showing up on the auction circuit and eBay.
The famed Ring Brothers have created no shortage of amazing Mustangs, with a 1965 fastback model in particular garnering international acclaim and fame. The Ring Brothers then went ahead and created a sister car, based on a S197 Shelby GT500, and both of these awesome rides are going up for auction in January.
Nicknamed “Producer” and “Producer II”, this pair of Mustangs is arguably the best looking in circulation right now. The ‘65 fastback in particular was lauded by critics for its low, wide stance (4-inches wider than stock!) and 740 horsepower 427 stroker engine. But it was the incredible BASF paint job that really helped this Mustang stand out from the competition.
The Ring Brothers then went ahead and created a sister car out of a 2007 Shelby GT500. While the 5.4 liter V8 makes “only” 630 horsepower, “Producer II” also features the same paint scheme, as well as a carbon fiber roof. Sure, it isn’t as wide or low as the original, but we wouldn’t mind have either one (or both) added to our collection.
This matching set of Mustangs will be up for auction at Barrett-Jackson’s annual Scottsdale auction in January.
