2014 is going to be a big year for Ford, and in particular, the Mustang. That will be the year that the all-new, next-generation Mustang hits dealerships, 50 years to the month after the original Mustang debuted, setting off a pony car revolution in America. And while Ford has a mild refresh for the Mustang planned for 2013, the 2015 model is the real prize here, and some people can’t wait for an official Ford reveal and instead are sketching out their own 2015 Mustang designs.
That’s what Motor Trend did for the article where they basically list off every fanboy’s wishlist of features for the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.
There are plenty of rumors going around about what to expect in the next-gen Mustang. From the return of the SVO in the form of a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine to (finally) an independent rear suspension, and a more modern front suspension there are high expectations for the next Mustang, which will be sold globally, and is being designed with a global appeal. So Motor Trend fired up their computers and designed what they think will be the look of the 2015 Mustang.
And we gotta say, it looks an awful lot like the current Mustang, save the taillights and larger front headlights with redesigned grill. Motor Trend suggests that Ford will do a lot of carryover between the current and next-generation Mustang to save money, but they also admit that Ford knows it has to shave a lot of weight to keep up with the next generation Camaro. We’re expecting a whole new, global platform personally, with little if any carryover on the next Mustang, but even Motor Trend has to wait until April of 2014 for the official unveiling of the latest and greatest Mustang.
