Though Carroll Shelby is dead and is finally on his way to his well-deserved resting place, the company that bears his name is sure to soldier on thanks to its legendary name and product lineup. While a lot of the focus has been on the 662 horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500 this year, another Shelby supercar is also about to hit the streets.

We are referring of course to the 2013 Shelby GT350, a new Shelby supercar that takes the standard Mustang GT to the next level. Shelby American was kind enough to put out a batch of photos from the construction of the first 2013 GT350, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how these cars come together, thanks to Mustangs Daily.

One of the biggest changes to the 2013 Shelby GT350 lineup is an expanded color palette that allows for any factory Ford color to be applied to this new supercar. And what better choice to start production than a Gotta Have It Green Shelby GT350? It’s the perfect choice to get this new program going, and the photos show just how much work goes into converting a standard Mustang GT into something of superior Shelby grade.

Shelby workers basically disassemble the whole front end of this Mustang in order to apply the new body kit, which includes a grille, front fascia, and rear valence (though the stock tail lights stick around, an indication to their awesomeness). This particular car also gets an optional supercharger package which should deliver around 620 horsepower. Standard GT350’s get a naturally aspirated power bump to around 450 ponies, though all Shelby’s come with the body kit and custom interior upgrades.

Starting at $26,000 plus the cost of a Mustang GT, the Shelby GT350 isn’t cheap, but you can’t really put a price on this level of cool.
