In honor of the 2007-2014 GT500s’ run coming to a close, Shelby American is paying tribute with the release of a 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Signature Edition. The Super Snake concept is based on the 1967 Shelby version, a car made by Carroll Shelby for Goodyear Tires, that has long been considered the halo of the iconic pony line-up.
The tribute package will be limited to fifty cars wearing the Signature Edition GT500 Super Snake badging. Available in both coupe and convertible it is expected the package upgrade will run around $44,995 on top of the base price of a 2014 GT500. All of the Signature Super Snakes will be constructed in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Shelby American factory world headquarters.
Powered by the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 the base 2014 GT500 will receive upgrades which include the replacement of the stock supercharger with a 3.6-liter Kenne Bell supercharger, along with the Shelby Performance cooling package that consists of aluminum cooling tanks, heat exchanger, and new radiator along with a CSM number on interior and engine plates. Improving horsepower from the factory 662 it is estimated by Shelby American that it will produce 850 hp. The cars will also receive brake and suspension upgrades to compliment the bump of nearly 200 hp.With a more aggressive stance this special edition Super Snake will be sporting Shelby GT500 Signature Edition Super Snake Forged Weld Venice wheels along with a specially modified hood and front grille design. Other exterior appearance changes include commemorative signature badging on the rear and on side paneling. Moving to the interior the inside trim will include a steering wheel that wears the nameplate of the Signature Edition Super Snake as well as newly designed floormats completing the subtle interior changes. Shelby American has also shared a wide-body kit package option will be offered for an additional cost.
Available in the full palette of the Ford factory GT500 line-up, anyone interested in acquiring one of these limited edition Super Snake badged horses will have until January 31, 2015 to place their orders.
