Ford’s Taurus SHO is one fast family hauler. Capable of surprising cars that cost nearly twice as much, the EcoBoost 3.5L powered beast can easily hang with some very fast cars. Order the EcoBoost option on a Flex wagon, and you’ve got a car that’s capable of making many brand X boys cry at the next stop light with only a few bolt on parts under the hood.
As gearheads, we’re always looking for ways to improve the power and performance of whatever we drive. One quick, and typically simple bolt on offering good gains for the money has always been an upgraded air intake system. In this video, Airaid shows some of the unique features behind their intake system for the EcoBoost Taurus SHO and the Flex EcoBoost wagon, and demonstrates just how easy it is to install on the car.
- Airiad’s one piece roto-moulded air box.
- A high flow, 1300 CFM Airiad filter.
- Six-inch velocity stack.
- Blade style weather strip.
- Urethane hump hose.
- Hardware pack.
If you’re familiar with basic hand tools and can change an air filter, you should be able to do this installation in your garage or driveway, and it should take most people 30-45 minutes to complete.
On the dyno this system made an improvement of 9 hp, and 15 ft-lbs of torque. The system also fits the Lincoln MKS and MKT with EcoBoost.
This system is available now from Airaid, part number 450-260 contains the oiled filter, and part number 451-260 has a non oiled filter.
