The American Muscle and BAMA guys have been hard at work, and while their first to the 9s 2015 Mustang GT, made big headlines, they’ve also been working on their own EcoBoost Mustang. With a tempting price tag, and solid performance, the EcoBoost is a car that we have a feeling will be popular with many Mustang owners.
To baseline the car, the BAMA crew headed to MIR to get some numbers and then throw a few more parts at it. The stock automatic performance pack equipped EcoBoost baselined a 13.63 at 98.91 in the cool fall air at MIR wearing some drag radials for added traction.
The car was then allowed to cool down while the BAMA guys went to work with a few quick upgrades. The upgrades included a new AirAid cold air intake, and a BAMA tune designed to not only take advantage of that intake, but also to get around some of the limiting factors in the stock tune. This allows the car to make more boost in the mid-range, and open the throttle more so it can cram more of that boost in.
With the sun setting, and the air perfect, the BAMA guys went out to make another pass. They got what they came for with the lightly modified EcoBoost turning in a 12.98 at 103.04 MPH. That’s a gain of over .6 in the quarter-mile, and very respectable for very little work.
Since we’re launching our own StangTV EcoBoost project, we’ll be even more curious to follow along with BAMA’s project car in the months and weeks ahead. Of course all these parts and more for the 2015 EcoBoost are available from the guys at American Muscle. Stay tuned, the EcoBoost cars are going to be something to watch.
