There are no two ways about it, street racing is dangerous. While we do post videos here of others partaking in it, we don’t condone the activity. The video above serves as a reminder of why keeping things on the track is always the better idea.
The video gives us multiple angles, of what we assume is a late night street race going down somewhere in the USA. A good looking ’67 Mustang, we’re told on nitrous, is squaring off against a twin turbo Camaro. Both cars look clean and apparently the opponents came out on this night ready to document their escapades.
The race looks good to about the half way mark, and that’s when it all starts to go terribly wrong. The Mustang gets out of shape, it’s fairly dark, and we’re not sure if it actually got off the pavement, or just overpowered the tires. The driver seems to recover, and straightens the car back out. The problem is, he then gets back in the throttle, attempting to still win the race.
As the cars cross the finish line, the Mustang, which has been loose for quite some time, takes a hard left turn, directly into the opposing Camaro. The collision damages both cars, fortunately it doesn’t do the same to the drivers. The video description says everyone walked away, and the cars are being repaired.
There are two things that we can take away from this video. The first is to know your car, know your limits, and know when to lift, you could easily do something similar to this just having fun on your own, without racing anyone. The second is, keep the racing at the drag strip. There’s a reason why tracks are prepped, have guard rails, safety rules, and an ambulance on hand.
