Over the last couple of years, SmokinStangs, an upstart Mustang forum that began with the premise of giving Northeastern Mustang owners a place to congregate on the Web has turned into much more than a virtual hangout. SmokinStangs.com founder Bob Pitard decided to organize a rally for these owners to get together in real life, and SmokinStangs Laconia was born. This year is the fourth running of the event, which has only grown larger and larger since its inception. SmokinStangs Laconia will take place over the weekend of June 27-29, 2014.
Laconia, if you’ve never heard of it, is the New Hampshire home of Laconia Motorcycle Bike Week, and now the small town can also lay claim to one of the largest Mustang get-togethers on the East Coast.
Not only is it a chance to get away for a weekend to a beautiful locale and hang out with other like-minded Mustang owners, Pitard has developed a program that gives attendees a chance to participate in various other activities. Weirs Beach, the actual home of the event, is a small slice of picturesque New England beauty and well worth the drive.
There will be a cruise-in, autocross competition, drag racing event at New England Dragway, awarded car show, and an on-site chassis dyno to measure your Ford’s horsepower. But perhaps the star of the show is the opportunity for all event-goers to take three laps around the incredible New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s Magic Mile NASCAR oval – a unique opportunity you won’t get anywhere else!
The event is open to all Ford-powered machines, not just Mustangs, so head on over to SmokinStangs and check out the details – and while you’re at it, give their Facebook page a like to stay abreast of all of the breaking SmokinStangs Laconia news.
