We continue to be watchful of news surrounding the S550 platform Mustang. As we watch and wait we believe that there are only two major stories left to break regarding the upcoming all new Mustang. The first would be performance numbers across the board. The second and perhaps bigger story is what the all new SVT version will bring.
We’ve brought you videos and spy photos for months now, often with the help of our friends over at Mustang6g. Once again those friends have delivered sending us the latest images and video of a less heavily camo’d SVT prototype making laps at the infamous Nurburgring.
The video offers glimpses of a camo wrapped instead of camo draped Mustang wearing a heat extractor hood of some sort, as well as side vents. Also notice the wheels, and the large quad-tip exhaust. The aero package also appears to be super aggressive on this car with different side skirts, front bumper, and what appears to be a splitter. This could be track version -maybe even a Cobra R?
No word on lap times, although there is no official Nurburgring timing system, and Ford didn’t release times for the previous Trinity powered GT500. We also have no clue what powers this car, or what it will be called. GT500, GT350, Terminator, Cobra?
What we do know is we can’t wait to get behind the wheel of one and find out more about it from Ford. Chrysler waited until the GT500 was out of production to throw down the gauntlet with their new Hellcat supercharged Hemi just two weeks ago. Ford has yet to respond, but we’re hopeful they do so with something along the lines of what happened back in 2012 when the trinity powered GT500 was introduced, deflating GM’s balloon and ballyhoo over the ZL1 Camaro.
Will Ford be back on top as king of the mountain again in 2016 or will the ’14 GT500 be the last parting shot fired by the blue oval in the recent horsepower wars? For more analysis and details check out the thread over at Mustang6g.
