Hooning In Project Kitsune, A Unique Fox Mustang

At first glance, Ron Baugh’s 1991 Mustang LX coupe looks like your typical Japanese racer. In fact, on the outside, it is. The fender-mounted mirrors, fender flares front and rear, front-mount oil cooler, unique art work on the hood all play homage to the Japanese style and influence. Even the name, “Kitsune,” is Japanese, which appropriately translates to fox in English.

Judging the its exterior, you would expect some sort of exotic import swap under the hood. However, Ron’s engine combo will look quite familiar to most of you. It is a traditional, 351-cubic-inch Ford small-block topped by AFR heads and boosted by a Vortech V1 supercharger. This tried-and-true Blue Oval powerplant is sure to get the job done every time, especially in the light Fox chassis.

“I’ve been a Foxbody fan since they were new, my first car was a ninety three GT convertible,” he explained. To me it kind of bridges the gap between old-school muscle car and new performance cars.”

In the Fox Mustang world, being different is difficult, chances are someone has already built it or is in the process of building it. Ron has definitely done a nice job of setting his coupe apart from the crowd and we love it!

So many of us follow and love the Fox for the same exact reason! We can definitely relate with Ron on this one! Congratulations on building a unique Fox build and on destroying some tires with Ken Block’s bunch of Hoonigans — the burnouts do not lie!
