The hits just keep on coming from the already rockstar status 2011 5.0L Mustang. AT PRI, the folks at DSS Racing have pulled the wraps off their new rotating assembly components and kits for the new 5.0L “Coyote” engines, giving enthusiasts another option for the engine buildups. The new forged pistons come complete with Speed Pro rings, while the forged H-beam 4340 rods sport an upgraded ARP rod bolts and a tri-metal Clevite bearing. Currently the rods are only being manufactured in the standard 5.0L factory length.
According to DSS Racings’ Tom Naegele, many owners are maintaining the stock compression ratio in their engines, thus at this point the company is still determining the compression ratio options for their stock. Pistons are currently being offered in standard, 25, 50, and 75mm bores. Naegele indicated that none has asked for a piston larger .020 over yet, but some upcoming testing will yield an idea of just how far they can push this combination of components. DSS also has a standard stroke crankshaft available that makes for a solid long block rotating assembly, although not on display here at the show.
