As you all well know, we love project builds as much as anyone, and so when we stumble upon a good one out there on the interwebs, we just can’t help but share it here on the digital pages of powerTV. This relatively new project that’s being documented on the Yellow Bullet forums is, of all things, a 1991 Mustang Fox Body Coupe. And after having already pulled down a ridiculous 1,000 rear wheel horses in its previous state, you have to wonder just how this car out there this next iteration can go.
The new combination is slated to consists of an MMR short block with a Teksid .20 over block, Manley 4240 Pro-Series Billet rods, a forged 5.0 stroker crank, coated Manley pistons, ARP head studs, and a host of other good fixing’s in the bottom end. The expected 1,500 horsepower bullet will utilize Ford GT supercar heads ported by MMR, along with stage “R” cams from MMR and Manley GT500 valve springs and retainers.
Rather interestingly, a prototype 4.6 Cobra R intake that Ford developed and then cut in half (presumably to keep it from ever being used) was found for a low price and welded back together for this project. An oval throttle body, BigStuff3 injection, a pair of Precision billet 6262 turbos and custom intercooler piping, and an AMS1000 boost controller create the brunt of the horsepower in this beast.
The already slick Fox has been torn apart to be fitted with a Wolfe Racecraft 10-point chromoly roll cage, all of the turbo piping, a Magnafuel fuel system, and a Rick’s Tank stainless fuel tank.
