Ford vehicles play a vital role for Team Sky… — Sir David Brailsford, Team Sky
Even cyclists need high-performance support. If you are fan of this form of racing, you are no doubt familiar with Team Sky, which has chalked up 51 wins and covered over 40,000 kilometers. The team has long enjoyed support from Ford in the form of vehicles and that arrangement was just extended until the end of 2019. To celebrate, Ford Performance created a one-off Focus RS support vehicle, which will debut at this year’s Tour de France.

“We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Ford – a company with the same principles of tackling challenges that we at Team Sky have,” Sir David Brailsford, team principal at Team Sky, said. “Ford vehicles play a vital role for Team Sky and their knowledge and support makes them an integral part of our team.”

One of 25 Ford support vehicles deployed by Team Sky, this 2017 Focus RS Option Pack features a Team Sky livery, a bike rack, custom Recaro seats, and more.

The hot hatch scout vehicle happens to be one of the 2017 models featuring the new Option Pack. This Focus features a livery matching the team’s special edition Tour de France jerseys along with a bike rack and unique Recaro seats.

“Racing on two wheels is increasingly capturing the imagination of sports fans across Europe — and is underpinned by the best possible support on four wheels. We are excited to continue to support Team Sky in their pursuit of further cycling success,” Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe, said.

The Recaro seats in this one-off RS are flatter, which allows the driver and support personal to move more freely and reach out to riders at speed.
