Ford EcoBoost Raptor owners looking to add a little more power to their twin-turbo engines now have an aftermarket ignition system that may just give your F-150 the boost it needs. Performance Distributors recently showed us its new line of Sultans of Spark ignition systems for Ford’s twin-turbo, 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine family.
“As you know, the EcoBoost is a different ‘animal’ in the world of engines,” said Scott Sowards of Performance Distributors. “This created a few challenges in designing a new system for the twin-turbocharged V-6 engine.”
He said the company normally develops coil systems that are specifically geared not to lose spark on the top end of the RPM range. “Because the new 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine produces so much torque, we developed a new line of Sultans Of Spark Coils to produce more energy in the low- to midrange, which keeps it in the EcoBoost powerband.”
“The results are an extremely high energy spark in your twin-turbo combustion chamber,” Scott added. “Raptor owners will be able to feel improved acceleration, a smoother idle, and quicker starting.”
