Ever since the first Ford Mustang left factories in 1964, the original American pony car has been something of a cultural icon, gaining prominent roles alongside big name stars like Steve McQueen, Nicholas Cage (he was a big star), and others. For the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, Ford has decided that it’s time for the Mustang to star in a film of its own, which is set to hit select theaters on October 8th, but just for a single night.
Today also happens to be the last day to get tickets to the Mustang movie event of the last half-century, though you’ll still be able to watch the movie at home on a smaller screen.
“A Faster Horse” takes an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at Ford’s development process for the 2015 Mustang. Automakers are notoriously protective of trade secrets, and the car design process that determines the looks and features of new models is among their most-guarded treasures. “A Faster Horse” explores the dynamics of what engineers are faced with everyday when helping to design the next-generation of one of the world’s most-venerated sports cars.
The 90-minute documentary will be shown at select theaters nationwide on October 8th for just a single night, and today is the last day to buy tickets if you’re interested. You can also pre-order the movie for digital download to watch from the comfort of home, and if you’re a Mustang fan this is a can’t-miss movie. There’s a lot of pressure to build a successful successor, and the challenge of honoring the past while continuing to innovate on an international icon is the crux of the film.
And you thought your job was tough.
