Ford has really hit a sweet spot with its line of EcoBoost engines. Americans these days want fuel efficiency…but they don’t want to sacrifice performance. This is especially true with pickup trucks, which find a lot of use in the fleets of large and small businesses alike. But let’s say you don’t give a lick of spittle about fuel economy; all you care about is power. Well the EcoBoost engine is just a quick tune away from being a real competitor in the sport truck world.
Livernois Motorsports has developed a tuner for the F-150 EcoBoost that, when tuned for 93 octane, produces peak gains of 69 horsepower and 88 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels. And that’s on an otherwise stock engine!
Now we knew the 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine was chock full of potential when force announced it. But it seems it took the magic of Livernois engineers to really unlock the beast within the EcoBoost engine. The Livernois tuner offers multiple stages for different octane fuels and performance needs.
Additionally, the tuner adjusts the transmission for reduced shift management and modified firmness and shift points. The tuner also helps deliver improved throttle response and removes the top speed limiter. Livernois has developed this tuner utilizing over 100 dyno runs worth of data to get it right. At its peak, on a 93 octane tune, the Livernois tuner adds 69 horsepower and 88 ft-lbs of torque. However, the power gains at lower RPM are as high as an extra 104 horsepower and 110 ft-lbs of torque. That’s on an otherwise stock engine! Want to learn more? We can’t wait until Ford finally puts an EcoBoost engine into a Mustang. We think it is long overdue.
