In August of last year, Outlaw 10.5 racer Mike Brown rode out a scary inferno aboard his ’98 Ford Mustang during the Saturday Night Shootout held at the Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, Ga. After several tense moments, Brown climbed from the blaze unscathed, but the same couldn’t be said for the Brown and Harrell Mustang, as the entire front end containing the twin-turbocharged, Proline Race Engines powerplant was left a charred mess. Interestingly, however were images showing the cockpit of the car virtually untouched despite the glowing flames just inches away.

By October, Brown had already pieced the ride back together and arrived in south Georgia for the Radial Revolution rested and ready for competition. Brown was competitive out o the gate, but in his words, “it looked like crap.”

During the off season, Brown and the Quicktime Motorsports team switched to a new transmission and rear gear combination and during a recent test at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La. in preparation for the south Georgia opener later this month, clicked off a 1.112 60-foot on a cold track while tipping the scales at 3,000 pounds. No doubt those stout early numbers show some serious potential for the Quicktime mount as it heads into battle against the toughest competition that Outlaw 10.5 has ever had.

Of course Brown and team would’ve never gotten back on track as quickly as they did without the support of a number of people and manufacturers in the racing community, including Chiseled Performance, RacePart Solutions, Turbosmart, Weldon Pump, Moran Atomizers Injectors, NLR Systems, and GRP Rods.
