By now most of you have probably heard that Jay Leno will be retiring, again, from the Tonight Show. Taking his place will be Saturday Night Live alumni Jimmy Fallon who, as funny as he is, lacks the car-guy credentials that we have come to know and love about Leno. With Jay soon handing the reigns to the Tonight Show to Fallon, that leaves us wondering about Leno’s other project, his popular YouTube series “Jay Leno’s Garage.”
It’s rumored that after he retires from TV, Leno will have more time to focus on his cars, and his web-site, which hopefully will allow him to continue to churn out high quality videos and interviews. His latest video features another car us average folks can only ever dream of owning, the 420 horsepower Ford Focus RS. Leno had a chance to hop behind the wheel of this European (and Mexican?!) import and really show us what it can do.
Make note, this is the 2010 Ford Focus RS, so it isn’t the new Focus RS that many European petrophiles are eagerly awaiting. However, it has set a new standard in hot hatchback performance thanks to its Volvo-designed 5-cylinder turbo engine making an incredible 420 horsepower. That is as much power as the new Mustang GT makes!
Leno talks specifics with Galpin Auto Sports Beau Boeckmann, who points out all the little details, like the limited-slip differential, the big brakes, and unique badging. If you’re like us though, you’ll want to skip to the 7-minute mark where Leno finally gets a turn behind the wheel. For an old funnyman, Leno can still shred rubber with the best of them.
