It’s been almost exactly two months since Ford revealed to the world the all-new 2015 Mustang, and pony car fans from all over the planet are poised to pounce as soon as the new ‘Stang hits dealerships. In the rush to find out everything there is to find out about the Mustang, some people may have skipped over crucial details that at the time seem trivial, but in the long run matter a great deal. Things like passenger space, fuel economy, and of course, cost.
This video lays out most of the details for the 2015 Mustang in a simple-to-read format, though there are still a few misinformed articles. It’s OK, we know how confusing this stuff can get when there’s literally a dozen new rumors flying around going every which way.
The video gets the most crucial info right, noting that Ford engineers have dropped about 200 pounds of weight from the 2015 Mustang compared to the 2014 model. They did this not only by making the dimensions of the 2015 model slightly smaller, but also by using aluminum fenders and hood, dropping substantial weight from the front of the car.
The video also notes that the Mustang’s interior passenger space has improved, while pricing isn’t likely to go up. However, we’re skeptical that the 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine is going to get anywhere near 40 MPG on the highway, especially considering that in the lighter Ford Focus, the 2.0 liter EcoBoost is only good for 32 MPG highway. That’s about where we expect the Mustang to come in too.
Also, since when did the Camaro SS only make 370 horsepower? Last we checked the Camaro SS was rated up to 426 horsepower with the six-speed manual, right on par with the Mustang GT. We’re all for embarrassing Camaro owners on the track, but lets do it honestly, eh?
Other than that, the video is pretty spot on in most departments, and it’s a good refresher course for anyone ready to get behind the wheel of the 2015 Mustang.
