As far as American race tracks go, Mazda Speedway at Laguna Seca (or just Laguna Seca, as it was once proudly known) stands among the most famous and treacherous. The infamous corkscrew turn towards the end of the lap has thrown many a virtual and real racer for a loop, and companies like GM and Chrysler use track times at Laguna Seca as a benchmark for performance.

Speed shop Agent 47 recently unleashed their Harbringer Mustang on Laguna Seca, with driver Corey Weber at the helm. Despite having less than two days and two hundred miles to practice, Weber still managed to turn an incredible 1:42 lap time in the freshly-built Mustang. So just how fast is that?

Using either a brand new Dynacorn body, or an original ‘69 Mustang, Agent 47 turns regular Mustangs into racing machines with some major modifications to the engine, suspension, and chassis. From the Bill Osbourne-designed rear V-link suspension the the Coyote 5.0 V8 engine, the Harbringer Mustang was made to race.

And race it does, with Corey Weber passing all manner of domestic and import racers during the American Iron Series practice laps. While horsepower is limited by rules to just 367 ponies, that didn’t stop Weber from lapping Laguna Seca in just a hair over 1:42, about the same time that supercars like the Nissan GT-R, the Porsche Cayman R, and the Corvette Z06. So yeah, it’s pretty damn fast considering those cars all have a horsepower advantage thanks to those pesky racing rules.
