Video: American Muscle Completes Stage 3 of ’12 Project Blackout

For those following along with AmericanMuscle.com’s 2012 Mustang GT Project Build dubbed Project Blackout, you’d be happy to know that Stage 3 has just been finalized, installed, and released. With three stages already under the belt and one more to go, this bad boy is already looking and feelin’ the part of one mean street machine. AM’s Facebook fans have been following the project and helping the team pick out the mods for the build thus far.

With Stage 3 completed, some serious performance mods were needed to get this thing up and seriously moving. The Stage 2 mods helped put down an impressive 407 horsepower and 399 ft. lbs. of torque but for the current stage, acceleration and handling both need to be locked down.

For handling, an Eibach Pro System Plus Suspension Kit was installed along with a J&M adjustable panhard rod, J&M rear lower control arms and JPC adjustable upper control arm. To beef up the end, some Ford Racing 4.10 gears were added along with an Eaton limited slip differential and a 4-inch Ford Racing aluminum one-piece driveshaft. For appearances, modifications installed by the AM team consist of a RTR diffuser with 3-piece splitter, RTR aluminum rear spoiler, Roush side rocker panel splitters, AmericanMuscle pre-painted side scoops and pre-painted quarter window louvers, and a mean Trufiber 3″ cowl hood.

This list of performance and appearance mods concludes Stage 3 of the Project Blackout Build. However, we can’t conclude without showing the results from Cecil County Dragway with a 12.17 pass giving it a .20 of a second gained. The blacked out beast looks like a blast to drive on the twisty back roads of Pennsylvania, handling and responding like a true American Muscle car should. We can’t expect anything less than for the AM guys to go absolutely nuts on the last and final stage of the build so bring on Stage 4! We’re ready!
