The performance potential of the 2011-12 Ford Mustang, or more appropriately, the 5.0L Coyote powerplant that lurks beneath the hood and has rocked the muscle car market, is simply awe-inspiring. We’ve seen these cars in the 11’s, the 10’s, the 9’s, and even the eight-second zone with largely stock bottom ends, stock transmissions, and a number of other factory-produced components from the Ford assembly plant. Sure, it takes a large investment in aftermarket components to make the power and subsequently put the power to the ground, but a hell of a starting platform it is, indeed.

Utilizing the stock 5.0L bullet, the team at Del Pino Motorsports in Florida mated an F1A ProCharger to their 2011 Mustang GT, along with a set of SS Works headers, and a Bassani Axle-back exhaust system, transferring through a built 4R70W automatic electric overdrive transmission from the team at the Automatic Transmission Factory (ATF). Other modifications include a set of lowering springs and M&H Drag Radials.

At 14 psi, this beast delivers 816 rear wheel horses, and more than 900 ponies at 16.5 psi. The result on the quarter mile, as you can see in the video above, is an incredible 9.794 at 137.43 MPH at full weight, short-shifting at 6.200 RPM, while making passes at the Palm Beach International Raceway. We’re already impressed, and we haven’t even seen the 8’s that DPM is shooting for next yet.
