Mustang owners are increasingly concerned with how well their cars handle, probably even more with the S197 than any other previous Mustang in history. Once a car is lowered getting all the settings for the alignment back to where they’re supposed to be can be difficult since Ford didn’t build a great amount of adjustability into the factory suspension.
That’s where a caster/camber kit comes in, and BBK has S197 owners covered from 2005-2013, with a caster/camber kit that will allow for a proper alignment, or even more aggressive handling settings with a modified suspension.
This video, released earlier in the year by BBK shows just how easy it is to install the kit, part number 2551, that includes everything needed on a S197 Mustang.
If you’ve installed a caster/camber kit on older Mustangs, the process is very similar on the S197 platform, with the exception that the spring and front strut will both come out together as an assembly.
Another chief difference between older model Mustangs and the newer ones is that the caster/camber kits install on the underside of the strut tower, rather than the top side. BBK includes a decorative cap as well, which is a big improvement over the car’s original look in this area under the hood.
If you’ve done this type of job before, you can probably handle the whole affair in around an hour and a half. It is necessary to get the car aligned as soon as possible so that the tires wear evenly, and the car handles correctly.
Better handling, steering, and tire life are all benefits of installing a caster/camber kit from BBK, be sure to check out the BBK web site for other S197 products, and follow them on Facebook as well.
