This past weekend was the annual Sno*Drift Rally in the upper Northeast corner of the Lower Michigan peninsula, and as you might expect Ken Block and navigator Alex Gelsomino were on hand to duke it out. Before we tell you what place they finished, we first have a cool video of the two Hoonigans testing out their H.F.H.V. on the snowy trails.
As you probably already know, Block recently unveiled a new headquarters and livery paint scheme for the newly-christened Hoonigan Racing Division. While Block still has his same sponsors, he is no doubt setting himself up as an independent racing operation, not unlike Europe’s M-Sport division.
So this is our first look at the new blue-and-black, skateboard and hip-hop inspired Ford Fiesta Hybrid Function Hooning Vehicle in action. Mechanically, there don’t seem to be any differences, and Block is still the same daredevil driver we all know and love.
In the tradition of his famed Gymkhana videos, there is a gratuitous amount of slow-motion video to capture all the action of Block dipping around snowy corners and around blind bends in the trail. Despite this practice session though, Block and Gelsomino finished in sixth place, beating out only two other contenders in their class, both of whom get DNFs.
Thankfully, the 100-Acre Wood Rally is next, and Block has come in first place there several times over the past few years. He has a lot of ground to make up though, that’s for sure.
