The next year or so is a great time to be a Mustang fan. With the 50th anniversary of our favorite pony car approaching, Ford will have one wild celebration on its hands once the latest and greatest Mustang arrives. But with the rumor mill suggesting that 2015 Mustang production won’t begin until next summer, we may have awhile to wait yet.
Until the official unveiling, rumored to occur next April, we will have to busy ourselves with tidbits like this spy video from Mustang6g.com. While the spy video doesn’t reveal anything new regarding the looks of the 2015 Mustang, we get some great audio from the next-gen pony car.
Once again we have shots of a very heavily camouflaged Ford vehicle bearing manufacturer license plates, and once again it is all but impossible to discern any design details. While the long hood and sloped windshiled definitely hint at the sleeker, Evos-like design we’ve all heard about, Ford’s camo experts have done a good job disguising what the 2015 Mustang really looks like.
The real jewel of this video is all the sweet exhaust audio we get from (we assume) the 5.0 liter V8. Yet this engine sounds somehow deeper and louder than even the V8 motor we’re used to. Could this hint at yet another engine variant based on the venerable Coyote 5.0? Is this testing for the Shelby GT350 or Mach 1 variant powertrain? Is Ford testing new exhaust systems for noise compliance on the next Mustang? We’ve seen one other video showing what sounded like an EcoBoost powered Stang roaming around as well. No official word yet from Ford on what the powertrain will be, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
