Mustangs are capable of making a ton of power with the right parts, and in the right hands, but Hector Perez’s is taking that notion to the extreme. In a world where making a 1,000-rwhp is still a pretty big deal, Perez’s Cobra just laid down 1,351-rwhp of hurt feelings. Talk about taking the wind out of people’s sails.
Yes, we know you want the skinny on the build, and we have it for you. At the heart of the power is a P. Modular Racing-built Four-Valve using a Teksid aluminum block, self-ported heads, Stage 4 turbo cams, and a Sullivan intake with a Wilson Manifolds elbow.

Perez’s Cobra uses a pair of Precision Gen 2 6266 turbochargers. These turbos feature a 62mm inducer wheel, with a 66mm, 76 trim turbine wheel.
To produce that monster power level, the car has a pair of Precision Turbo GEN 2 6266 turbochargers pumping up the boost; P. Modular Racing built the turbo system for the car. Other supporting parts include Injector Dynamics ID2000 injectors, an AMS1000 boost controller, and a Big Stuff 3 engine management system. Like many of the fastest Mustangs in South Florida, Perez’s Cobra relies on E85 fuel to feed the flame. Lund Racing‘s Ken Bjonnes tuned the car’s Big Stuff 3 on Power by the Hour‘s Dynojet.
The stock Tremec T56 transmission is still in the car; it’s supported by a twin-disc McLeod RXT clutch that’s capable of handling the power. Perez has also installed a solid rear axle swap with 3.27 gears. The Cobra is destined for street action, where top speed is the name of the game–60-foot times and dragstrip scoreboards are not in this car’s future.
There are many open roads in South Florida, and this Cobra will probably see all of them. We’re sure all 1,351 horses will get exercised on a regular basis.
