Here in the United States, most Mustang owners that have the ability park their machines for the winter, as the Mustang traditionally has been a poor wet and slippery-weather vehicle since its inception. The combination of rear-wheel-drive and a fairly-light hind end combine to keep the Mustang’s poor-weather handling characteristics in the same realm as those exhibited by a first-time ice-hockey player. Sure, we all know someone who claims that they are “easy as pie” to drive in the winter, but the majority of those folks live south of the Mason-Dixon Line. 

In Russia, they experience a long, cold, harsh, and slippery winter much like the Northern half of the U.S., so as soon as we saw the title on this video we knew we were in for a treat. It appears to have been shot from the dash-cam of a government or police vehicle, and starts off mildly. It’s only once you notice the Mustang turning the corner on the left that you realize the video’s about to get good. The driver rounds the corner, applies some power, and as the rear of the car starts to rotate, overcorrects way to quickly. The result is the Mustang driving straight across the traveling lane, shooting over a median strip, and right into the driver’s  door of another car waiting to make a left turn.

While we don’t see the driver in the damaged car get out, the median strip provided enough resistance for the Mustang to slow it down, preventing it from completely crushing the second car involved in the “accident.” We’d venture to guess that it’s driver inexperience rather than stupidity…those three-valve modular engines made tons of torque! In an environment like this, Blizzak snow tires would be a wise investment as well.
