Admittedly, your author has always wondered what an EcoBoost V6-powered Mustang would feel like to drive. Would it be as fast (or possibly even faster?) as the potent GT version? Or would it completely supersede the 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated iteration, due to making its peak torque at nearly 3,000 rpm? It’s hard to say, as there really aren’t a lot of turbocharged V6-equipped Mustangs running around on the street. Until, you see Justin’s makeshift EcoBoost S550 Mustang, that is…

From the exterior of this V6 Mustang, you probably never would have guessed it was twin turbocharged… until you see the front end, of course.
Our friend David Patterson “ThatDudeInBlue” had the opportunity to review Justin’s EcoBoost-inspired 2015 Mustang V6—and this twin-turbo street car impresses us in more ways than one. Justin’s 3.7-liter V6 S550 Mustang uses a pair of turbochargers from a 3.5-liter EcoBoost-equipped F-150. According to the owner, Justin, this is allegedly the first EcoBoost swapped S550 Mustang. The entire kit was fabricated around those two turbochargers as the base, thanks to the folks at Super Six Motorsports out of Houston, Georgia.

As David pointed out, the combination features a pair of Turbosmart blow off valves – they’re the only components visible from the top of the engine that doesn’t look factory.
All said and done, David said the combination is good for more than 400 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, and is tuned conservatively on E85 fuel at only 5 pounds of boost. Safe to say, that’s more than enough power for most people on the street. We know we wouldn’t mind having a daily like this.
