EcoBoost Battle: Tuned 2.7 F-150 vs. Stock 3.5 F-150

Over the years, our friends at Livernois Motorsports and Engineering have really proven to be the authority on just about everything EcoBoost-powered. In fact, the company started working its magic on the EcoBoost engine back in 2009 with the release of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 found in the Ford Taurus SHO.

Moreover, Livernois has proven that the SHO, as well as many other EcoBoost engine variants, are without a doubt a formidable and a potent engine choice for any performance-oriented application. Case in point, the video above shows Livernois testing a pair of bone-stock 2017 Ford F-150 models, which are both powered by two different EcoBoost V6 engines. One is the 3.5-liter version, and the other is the smaller, 2.7-liter iteration.

The video above shows both F-150s stock versus stock. What’s interesting is that the 2.7-liter EcoBoost-powered F-150 seems to keep up with the larger 3.5-liter variant quite well. However, once a Livernois tune was applied to the smaller, EcoBoost-powered F-150, it’s game over from there. The 2.7-liter version pulls strong out of the hole and away from the 3.5-liter version, leaving the gap even wider the faster both trucks go.
