Not many cars make it through five decades of continuous production, putting the Ford Mustang in elite company. That’s why Ford made such a big to-do about the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, throwing not one, but two celebratory bashes simultaneously. One was held in Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the other at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Ryan Tuerck and Vaughn Gittin Jr. were started out the week to put on a show for the gathered Mustang faithful.
With Gittin in his Formula Drift car, and Tuerck in a Mustang RTR, the two went about some high-speed sideways shenanigans that almost ended with them trading paint. Good thing they’re “professionals” eh?
Gittin actually nearly drifted into Tuercks car on his way around the Vegas Motor Speedway, and Tuerck, somehow, managed to shift his Mustang RTR into reverse mid-drift. This maneuver saved the two from an embarrassing collision, and it also made for some exciting Mustang drifting action. Suffice to say, the crowds were entertained by the antics of Gittin and Tuerck.
After their time in Vegas, the two fly on over to the East Coast celebration at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where they checked out a tent chock full of Mustang history. Alas, a torrential downpour crashed the party as well, but that didn’t stop the two racers from saddling up their Mustangs anyways, and slip-sliding their way across the race track. That’s what we call the Mustang spirit.
