We officially own the first and fastest 2018 Mustang GT. — Willie Diaz, MAK PerformanceIf you have followed our coverage of MAK Performance’s 2018 Mustang GT, you know it was the first 2018 Mustang GT outside the confines of ProCharger’s headquarters to add a P-1X supercharger. That addition along with a cast of supporting hardware and tuning created lots of horsepower and recently carried the Royal Crimson machine into the virtual record books with a 9-second quarter-mile run.
“We officially own the first and fastest 2018 Mustang GT,” Willie Diaz of MAK Performance told us after the car broke the record at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida on a cool Friday evening in January.

We still have some gremlins that we are working on with the transmission. — Willie Diaz, MAK PerformanceWhen it comes to new-Mustang performance that is a hugely significant milestone, which is made all the more impressive because the MAK team is still refining the calibration of the car’s new 10-speed automatic transmission.
“Basically we are just tuning,” Willie explained. “We still have some gremlins that we are working on with the transmission. Everything else is identical.”

• Velgen wheels (street)That means all the hardware we detailed previously is still the same and the ProCharger P-1X is still pullied for about 10-psi. With that in mind, we expect this car to run deeper into the 9-second zone as more is learned about controlling the 10R80 transmission.
The next phase for this car is a new dual-pump fuel system and a looser torque converter to push this car into the mid-nines, while retaining its streetability. For now, you can learn more on this record-setting ride, you can check out our coverage of its ProCharger install here and its 846-horsepower dyno pull right here.
