Ken Block’s Gymkhana series of videos has become a regularly-anticipated event among motorsports enthusiasts. Always full of screaming tires, whooshing turbos, and the wild driving antics of the co-founder of DC Shoes, Gymkhana 5 is set to carry on this awesome tradition with the latest video, set on the wide and winding streets of San Francisco.
And per tradition, Block and crew have released another teaser video that is short in length but long on the promise of ever more tire-shredding Gymkhana action.
As we already noted, the next Gymkhana video will be set in sunny San Francisco, which hosts a number of historical and internationally-known landmarks. These include the Golden Gate bridge, the switchback Lombard Road, Alcatraz Island, and hilly streets crawling with trolleys and cars. And as this teaser shows, at the very least San Francisco’s Bay Bridge will be included in the next video.
The teaser is set on a barge floating towards San Fran’s harbor and includes some helicopter shots with the Bay Bridge in the foreground. Block once again proves he has the cajones to do stunts many people would never dare, turning his tires into smoke as he does donuts on the barge. There are no guardrails or barriers between Block and the Bay, fulfilling the dangerous dynamic that Gymkhana always includes. We did a little digging ourselves and managed to come up with some home video of Block shooting Gymkhana 5, as well as catching special guest Travis Pastrana joining in for some two-wheeled action.
We can’t wait for the full video to drop on July 9th.
