Order The Right Wheels With This Guide From Billet Specialties

Wheel trends come and go, whether you’re driving a late model performance car or truck, a muscle car, classic, or a street rod, the wheels can make or break a car’s appearance. Billet Specialties has been cranking out custom wheels for over 25 years. In that time they’ve seen certain trends come and go, while some looks have stayed the same or evolved only slightly., Regardless a large part of their business is outfitting customer cars with great looking and performing wheels.

If your ride has standard suspension, without too many mods, and you’re not looking to get wild with your wheel sizes, chances are Billet Specialties can easily tell you what fits the car. However, when you get into custom sizes and custom suspension, or brake systems, things change. This is where Billet Specialties’ wheel measurement guide can help.

The guide illustrates and explains six different measurements for the front wheels, and five for the rears that are all necessary to properly size a custom set of wheels. Keep in mind that this still weighs heavily on the accuracy of the person doing the measuring. If you can use a tape measure though, chances are you can fill out this form.

For front wheels the measurements include:

  • Mounting surface to first obstruction frame side
  • Mounting surface to inside fender
  • Hub diameter
  • Brake diameter: Center to top of caliper x2
  • Protrusion of caliper past mounting surface
  • Hub Length.

Measurements for rear wheels include:

  • Mounting surface to first obstruction frame side
  • Mounting surface to inside fender
  • Hub diameter
  • Brake diameter: Center to top of caliper x2
  • Protrusion of caliper past mounting surface

Billet Specialties also requests additional information on suspension and modifications as well as brakes. All of this information is required to make sure that the proper wheels are ordered. By making these measurements accurately and filling out the wheel measurement guide form, customers can assure they get the best possible wheel fitment from Billet Specialties.

If there’s a measurement that you don’t understand, or a term, Billet Specialties can explain that as well. For more information on proper wheel fitment, as well as to view the guide yourself, check out the Billet Specialties web site or give them a call.
