We first told you about the new 2014 F-150 EcoBoost Tremor sport truck back in June after StangTV Editor Don Creason made the trek to Michigan to learn all about the cool new turbocharged speedster. As the first EcoBoost-powered sport truck, the 2014 F-150 Tremor will act as the pace car at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Michigan National Guard 200 race on August 17th.
The pace truck doesn’t even need any modifications to keep up with the field – the only change warranted to the truck is the light bar atop the roof, required by NASCAR for any pace vehicle. The Tremor, while it doesn’t replace the much-loved Lightning, offers many of the same types of features that made the Gen 2 F-150 Lightning such a hit in the early years of this millennium. The EcoBoosted machine has the FX Appearance Package combined with the twin-turbocharged V6 engine that cranks out a whopping 365 hp and 420 ft-lbs of torque – virtually the same power that those Lightnings had a decade ago – but with more than double the fuel economy. And that’s before the legendary Ford aftermarket gets to tickle the engine package. The EcoBoost engine has already proven itself as a stout performer in the hands of a capable engine tuner, and we can only imagine what these vehicles will turn into over the next couple of years.
The Tremor comes out of the factory with a set of 4.10’s already installed in the rear, a sweet set of flat-black 20-inch wheels, and a full center console along with bucket seats. The more we see of this truck, the more we want one. It will serve the NASCAR gang well in its pace-race duties. This thing has a ton of features – hit our previous writeup to see them all.
