If you’re looking at this Moser axle and you are wondering what’s different about it, we’re here to tell you that it delivers more than good looks. The company developed what they are calling the new PRO Extreme Flange — a new hub design geared toward usage in high-horsepower applications. This new design not only delivers great performance, but also the maximum amount of torque from your engine to your tires. That can be a huge factor when it comes to winning races.
According to Moser’s Marketing Director Jeff Anderson, “It is still about the same weight as our Star-flange hub, but it is actually stronger.” While the engineering of Moser’s new PRO Extreme Flange axle design, is comparable to their full-floating axle’s hub shape, Anderson also told us, “This is an intermediate design that is positioned between our full-circle flanged and a full-floating axle.”
The PRO Extreme Flange is not designed to overshadow or replace Moser’s existing flange designs. According to Anderson, “this is designed around our 40-spline, high-horsepower axles. We didn’t redesign the axle, we simply developed the PRO Extreme Flange using the design and strength advantages of a full-floating hub.” Anderson continues, “The geometric design is the same as is used on all standard full-floating axles. This is the most compact design, with the most reliability and strength that can still be light and safe.” Moser had its new flange design on display as part of a PRO Extreme axle. It has a shaft size of 1.705 inches, but adding to the axle’s strength is the oversized 1.774-inch bearing seats.
The Moser PRO Extreme performance axle is designed and engineered to withstand tremendous amounts of horsepower. For the serious racer, the PRO Extreme allows the user to upgrade to a bigger, premium shaft, and not add any substantial weight to the car. In fact, we’re told that the Moser PRO Extreme performance axle is lighter than a standard 33-spline axle. The Moser PRO Extreme can be splined to fit any manufacture’s spool, and comes with a standard 10-year replacement policy.
