The 2013 GT500 is the baddest production muscle car ever. With over 660 hp on tap, no other manufacturer in the muscle car realm even comes close to matching the same level of power as Ford’s top dog pony car.

There are those though that aren’t satisfied with this level of performance, and while bolt on parts, and even going as far as a major supercharger upgrade will net big gains, there is only so far you can go with the stock engine internals.

Carl Messenger at Competition Auto was one of those looking to see just how much power he could get out of a built Trinity 5.8 engine. So Messenger took a new GT500 and pulled the engine from it. Messenger completely disassembled the engine and rebuilt it using high quality parts that maximized it’s durability and power output potential.

The bottom end was rebuilt using Diamond pistons and Oliver rods. The top end utilizes cams from Comp Cams, and a massive Whipple 4.0 supercharger crams pressurized air into the cylinders. Incoming air is handled by a Ford Racing mono-blade throttle body and JLT Big Cold Air Intake. An SCT custom tune controls the engine.

Backing up the stout engine combination is a Rossler built 4L80e transmission with a Yank converter and TCI controller. When Messenger adds a 100 hp shot of nitrous the combination is good for 1,130 hp to the rear wheels.

It’s very cool project to watch come together, and we can’t wait to see what Messenger does with the car now that it’s ready to hit the streets.
