PRI 2016: Ford Performance’s Track-Only Shelby FP350S

If you like carving corners, the crew at Ford Performance keeps singing your tune. Just a month ago in Vegas the Blue Oval hot-rodding division revealed a complete road racer and today at The PRI Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, another turnkey terror took a bow—the track-only Shelby FP350S.

“Our goal has always been to provide those who want to race with equipment that enables them to compete and win,” Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance, said. “Shelby FP350S is our latest example.”

Shelby FP350S Mods

• 5.2-liter V8 engine prepared by Ford Performance Parts

• Weight-reduced unibody chassis with seam welding

• Six-point FIA-compliant roll cage

• Performance-oriented oil pan and oil cooler

• Tremec 3160 manual transmission with integral oil pump

• 3.73 rear final drive ratio

• Race-oriented exhaust

• Race-oriented suspension components, including electric steering calibrations

• 19×10.5-inch front and 19×11-inch rear wheels

Powered by a Ford Performance 5.2-liter engine backed by the same Tremec 3160 found in the street-going Shelby, the FP350S is packed with road racing gear from a tuned suspension to a Motec datalogger. There aren’t many boxes to check on the order form, but you can swap out the 19-inch wheels in favor of a Forgeline 18-inch race wheel package and add the Shelby FP350S graphics if you are so inclined.

The FP350S follows in the tire tracks of a long line of turnkey road-race Mustangs available as complete cars under a single Ford Performance Parts part number. From the FR500C, BOSS 302R and 302S to the Shelby GT350R-C and Mustang GT4, these cars are cars are ready to race right out of the box. In this case, the Shelby FP350S is meant to compete in road racing sprint events, including Trans Am (TA3 and TA4), NASA and SCCA club racing (T1 and T2).
