SEMA 2018: Aeromotive Adds Two New Options To Fuel Pump Line

AeromotiveThe hottest trend in hot rods and muscle cars today is adding EFI to a classic engine. Heck, many people are even installing a complete late-model, EFI-equipped engine. It’s no secret why. You can make serious power and do it more affordably than ever. What makes these conversions so affordable, is the ample supply of parts and kits from the aftermarket. Aeromotive is one company that is making the task of feeding an EFI system, much easier.

Aeromotive’s Brushless Fuel Pump Series has been around for a while, and recently saw a little growth to the line up. “We’ve expanded on our brushless line.” says Jackson Lueg of Aeromotive. “It now includes our signature body. We have those in everything from a brushless A1000 all the way up to a brushless, 5-gallon-a-minute spur-gear pump.”

Aeromotive’s brushless motors employ sensors to monitor rotor angle to provide faster and more reliable phase shifting. This helps the pump have more torque capacity and motor efficiency. In a brushless motor, instead of the armature rotating, the magnets rotate around the armature, and the motor controller manages the phase shift to keep the motor rotating under load (load is related to pressure in a fuel pump). With more torque per watt and a higher torque-to-weight ratio, brushless motors develop less noise and deliver a high level of reliability.

Aeromotive’s brushless fuel pumps provide precise control of fuel pump RPM as pressure rises, better maintaining pump RPM and flow. Tight tolerances result in less current draw, less heat, and extended pump life.

Another innovation from Aeromotive is its Apex Phantom, which uses a jet-siphon system, that Aeromotive has developed and is in the process of patenting. The Apex Phantom comes with 4-feet of gasoline and ethanol-rated suction line, and features a pickup that maintains 1/8-inch of clearance from the tank bottom. The pickup line can be secured to the intended pickup point within the tank via a two-magnet system that is compatible with any tank construction material, including poly-plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.

The new Apex Phantom is available in two pump configurations: a Phantom 340 (P/N 18704) or a Phantom Flex (P/N 18705). The jet-siphon is also sold separately for use with any existing Phantom pumps (P/N 18706).

With innovations like this, it is no wonder Aeromotive walked away with the 2018 SEMA Show Manufacturer of the Year Award. Check out these and other great Aeromotive products on the company’s website.
