For 2015, the all-new Ford Mustang was bestowed with a whole host of improvements and advantages that make it a better connected, better performing car. But if you thought Ford was going to stop there, you’re sorely mistaken. The 2016 Mustang GT will bring back a popular old school feature, hood vent-integrated turn signals, after customers made it known that they wanted Ford to bring this feature back. And yes, it will be standard on all Mustang GTs.
The hood-mounted turn signals, visible only to the driver, harken back to the days of the earliest American muscle cars, when automakers were trying to out-cool each other. For the 2016 Mustang, Ford is also offering other appearance and performance improvements, like a black roof option for GT and EcoBoost buyers, as well as black or silver racing stripes. The EcoBoost Premium model is now offered with the Pony Package, which includes 19-inch wheels, a side strip, chrome window surrounds, and a unique front grille. GT buyers can get a murdered-out Black Accent Package, which adds black wheels, black taillight trim, a black spoiler, and black Mustang logos.
Mustang GT buyers will also be able to buy the California Special package, which has been brought back by popular demand as well. The CS package adds 19-inch black alloy wheels, hood and side stripes, a black spoiler, mirror and hood vents, dark taillamp accents, a front splitter, special grille and gas cap, strut tower brace and a black leather interior with suede inserts and red stitching. Finally, Mustang GT Convertible buyers can now benefit from the must-have Performance Package, which includes a host of suspension and braking upgrades to make the new Mustang among the most agile ever.
Seriously though, it’s all about the hood-mounted turn signals. Maybe Ford can bring back the hood-mounted tachometer next?
