Ford has been expending a lot of money and effort on social media and online advertisements, though they haven’t completely ignored “traditional media” outlets. For example, the latest commercial for the 2013 Ford Mustang implores would-be buyers to unleash their “Inner Mustang”, and we’re given just a taste of all the creative, custom options you can order on your Ford muscle car.
Mustang Heaven reports that Ford Global has built one of those Mustangs and brought it to life, with plans to cart it around to different auto shows across Asia.
The commercial shows off the Mustangs different color and graphic options, with the same car transforming for different individuals. The car Ford Global decided to build was actually a combination of the first and second actors’ “Inner Mustang”, going from a bold red to white with black stripes. It’s as though Ford designers froze the commercial at a precise moment and pulled the car out of the commercial and into reality.
So far, the “Inner Mustang” ad has been the only television commercial for the 2013 model, though the Mustang’s presence can be felt all over the Internet. This particular car will be carted across Asia, where the Mustang isn’t for sale in most countries. That will all change with the next Mustang however, which will be a truly global vehicle that will go on sale in almost every market Ford operates. This is just the opening salvo of what will eventually usher in a new era of the new Mustang.
